| Winter Park: CO's snow HQ
Few people ever get to have the mountain to themselves, so Paul Tourangeau says he knows he's lucky to be able to perform sweep for Winter Park's Volunteer Ski Patrol. "My favorite thing to do is check out the view of Perry Peak at the end of the day; the alpenglow is just amazing," he said. "But everyone should stop what they're doing now and then and take a look." Tree's a crowd: According to Darryl Stein, the trees are tight and packed with powder off Trestle, a black diamond run on Mary Jane. "You have to take a blue to get down to it, I think it's called Roundhouse, and then you can kind of drop in and out as much as you want. You can cross over into these great shorter hits off there, or you can just ride it down to a blue and then cruise on outta there. And then lather, rinse, repeat, as far as I'm concerned.

Surprise Result: Fray Posters Love Slate
But the real triumph of the iPod should be credited to Apple's marketing department. Apple is one of the best at the "lifestyle" products game. There was no technological revolution, but it sure felt like one. That's mission accomplished in the product development biz. And again the genius of the iPod's visual design was to make it easily distinguishable at first sight. Back in the winter of '01-'02, anyone could immediately spot the trend setters. It was all about those white headphones. Of course, those white headphones signify something quite different to other fraysters. Describing his daily morning commute with zombie-like iPod listeners' "long white wires filtering down to the nearest pocket, staring off into some spot on the bus where there is no gaze coming back, looking nothing less than already defeated and depressed by the day ahead of them," Ted_Burke rails against the anti-social behavior induced by the device, declaring: "I neither own an Ipod, nor wish to get one." Shuffle over to the Culturebox Fray for other testimonials to the iPod's influence and contribution to societal ills.
McCain and Obama trade jabs on Iraq
How is it he now consistently wins 80 % of the Black vote no matter where he goes? What changed in just 12 weeks? ————————————————————————— For one thing Bill Clinton's belittling remark about even Jesse Jackson winning South Carolina when he ran for president. Another was his sarcastic contention that Obama's stance on Iraq was a “fairy tale." Understandably, neither of these remarks resonated with the black electorate and they have let their displeasure be known at the ballot box. Hillary's slide among African American voters can be traced to those two remarks. .

This year's recipient is Darcy Terry, owner of Nationwide Insurance on Denbigh Boulevard. Established on that road in 1976, the office recently moved to a new location on the street. There, Terry installed a digital sign reminiscent of the bank sign that graced the intersection of Denbigh and Warwick boulevards for decades. Carol Lannie, RN, BSN, will give a presentation on "The Birds and Bees for Individuals with Special Needs." Specifically, this is for middle and high school students with disabilities and their parents at the Midtown Community Center, 570 McLawhorne Drive. .

Some Thoughts on Gay Marriage
See http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/bosrev-wilken.h... for a great summary. Jesus still defines sin as lack of love (Matthew 22:36-40). Those concerned about the sanctity of marriage should insist on outlawing adultery, divorce and abortion. All are sinful because each has an unloved victim. Marriage must be for love, not pregnancy. What is unloving about a couple in a homosexual love relationships? Neither is victim, neither is unloved. Where is the hurt? Who is the victim being sinned against? The Gospel writers and prophets do not mention homosexuality because it is not a sin. The King James Version comes closest to a correct translation of two condemning nouns used in Leviticus 18:22 — "sexual immorality". That is not necessarily homosexuality. ("Homosexual" was coined about 1865, so any translation using a form of that word is a lie that needs to be emended.
Bernanke Dismisses 'Stagflation'
The economy is not close to a 1970s-style mix of stagnant growth and high inflation, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said yesterday, but he painted a generally dour outlook and cautioned that the downturn is likely to cause some small banks to go under. .
