Take Skyscraper for a spin

First Planet Snoopy. Now Skyscraper.

Cedar Fair will unveil a new thrill ride this summer in its Challenge Park activity complex.

It joins Planet Snoopy -- a new children's area -- as Cedar Point's newest attractions for 2008.

Skyscraper is a giant propeller ride that will spin guests in a full circle from two arms. Four riders -- two on each arm -- will sit in open cars with their feet dangling on opposite ends of the propeller.

The arms spin riders up to 55 mph. At the highest point, riders will be upside down 160 feet above the ground.

Nike Invitational Day One

The evening session held room for just two distance events, but the Ladies managed to make history in one of those events. In the meet-opening swim, the 800-yard freestyle relay, a University of Kansas quartet set the Kenyon Athletic Center Natatorium record with a time of 7:29.42. Kenyon's entry in the same event placed third with a time of 7:30.78, which was a new College record. The Ladies responsible for that time were Lauren Brady (Tyngsboro, MA/Phillips Exeter), Tina Ertel (Halle, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle), Rebecca Wenzlau (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto Senior), and Danielle Arad (Yorba Linda, CA/Tarbut V'Torah). They erased the old Kenyon mark of 7:33.38 set at the 2004 Division III national championship meet. It went without saying that the time was also good for automatic qualification into this season's NCAA DIII Championship.

AIT Domains VR Program Generates Unrivaled Profits

In the years since AITDomains.com introduced its Virtual Domain Registrar program, it has become a cash cow for hundreds of Internet entrepreneurs and resellers.

Fayetteville, NC, March 05,2008--In the years since AITDomains.com introduced its Virtual Domain Registrar program (http://aitdomains.com/vrprogram/?pdkw=pr-domainsvr-prp-03042008), it has become a cash cow for hundreds of Internet entrepreneurs and resellers. Many have used it to register, renew, or transfer hundreds of domains, and some enterprising customers have more than 5,000 domains under their accounts. The user creates the pricing structure, controls the registration process, and owns the customer in every substantive way, says Jamie Moore, Product Manager for the program. The program is white-labeled, so AITDomains.com is invisible to the end user, though there is a support system for virtual registrars.

Rey: States that back roadless forests should pay for fire costs

Rey, the undersecretary for natural resources and the environment in charge of the U.S. Forest Service, said the Bush administration has encouraged states and local governments to offer input in the management of federal lands.

But he told a Wildland Urban Interface conference that one of the unintended consequences is that state-imposed moratoriums on development in roadless areas boost the cost of fighting fires because of reduced access to housing subdivisions that sprout up on the edge of those forests.

"In a number of cases, most recently in the state of California, the states have weighed in with a profound desire not to see any roadless area incurred as a broad matter of environmental priorities. And I frankly don't have any quarrel with that as a statement of environmental policy," Rey said.

Scott gives thanks to Brass

PAUL Scott has said former caretaker boss Chris Brass will be sadly missed in the dressing room.

Speaking on behalf of the players, the Shakers skipper told the Bury Times that he was saddened by the news that Brass has stepped down from his role as Alan Knill's assistant to concentrate on his work with the centre of excellence and a part-time playing career with Hyde United.

"Brassy was a great influence on me when he was here as a player, as he was for a lot of the lads over the last couple of seasons," he said.

Rights and Rockets

I was home two weeks ago, getting ready for evening prayers, sitting with my wife and child, and suddenly my mobile starting ringing. He said, I'm Rami, I'm from Shabak the Israeli security agency Shin Bet and I'm responsible for your area. What are you doing? I guess you're with your wife and your two children?' I said no, and he said Yes, your two children are with you, but now you've just moved out of the room'. I said, what do you want? He said If you don't stop your rockets it's only a matter of time before you are targeted'."

Anyone who has ever seen a modern spy movie knows what you're supposed to do next: hurl the phone as far as you can and then dive from the building before it or the telephone explodes. Next, go underground, and never use a phone or a computer again.

MTB News & Racing Round-up

The Multivan Merida Biking Team is about to kick off its competitive season. The focus is clearly on Norway's Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå, who had to quit racing last year in June for health reasons. Having recovered, the seven-time World champion and Athen's Olympic gold medal winner is back and ready to compete with the world's elite for the first time in Brescia.

Dahle Flesjå will be in Brescia for the first race of Italy's cross country series. Despite her long absence, many experts consider her as the odds-on favourite. At the same race, Austria's Robert Gehbauer, Dahle Flesjå's team-mate and former Junior World Champion is also scheduled to line up. On the other hand, Germany's Moritz Milatz will stay in Cyprus with his national team preparing for the season to come.
