Cinnamon Brown, Singer-Songwriter From Amsterdam Set to Spice Up the ...

Upon getting her feet wet in the competitive U.S. music scene, Cinnamon Brown envisions herself performing with Atlanta based, Hip-Hop sensation T.I., "I like his energy, lyrics and style," says Cinnamon.

Although she has penned songs for Universal Music Publishing, Cinnamon Brown feels that the time has come for her to go beyond Europe to share her gift with the world. Cinnamon Brown is the real deal -- her determination, infectious energy and passion will make her the next household name.

An impressive A-List gathering of entertainers, from Anita Baker, Bob Marley, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway to Busta Rhymes has influenced Cinnamon Brown.

When she's not writing songs for her debut CD or for Universal Music Publishing, Cinnamon Brown volunteers her time with young girls, empowering them to be leaders and to follow the beat of their drum -- not others.

Crude oil futures increase against unstable background

Lynch thinks OPEC will hold production levels steady, arguing that last week's price declines have largely accomplished the cartel's goals. OPEC is also worried that an oversupplied oil market would drive prices dramatically lower, Lynch said.

Other analysts are divided in their views, but a consensus appears to be forming that OPEC will increase production if prices remain above $80 a barrel.

Jim Ritterbusch, president of Ritterbusch and Associates in Galena, Illinois, notes that what OPEC says and what it does are not necessarily one and the same thing. The cartel could easily announce a production increase to keep prices on their downward tack, but then decline to boost supplies if prices remain low in the coming months.

"OPEC could easily fall short of any agreed upon production increase," Ritterbusch said in a research note.

The launch of the UEFA Video Service (UVS) has given Internet users in 96 countries access to live online matches from UEFA competitions. UVS has been developed by UEFA to enable its broadcast partners to extend their rights and provide live match coverage on the Internet.

Over 20 broadcasters around the world are using UVS to make every UEFA Champions League match from the 2006/07season and every UEFA Cup match from the quarter-final stage in April 2007 available live on the Internet. As a result, more than 125 matches will be offered in over 100 countries.

Six more locations eyed for Hawaii coffee chain

A prospective franchiser is in talks with Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii to open six locations in the Albuquerque area, a representative of the company confirmed.

There is one New Mexico location, near the intersections of Highways 550 and 528 in Bernalillo, north of Albuquerque.

The deal could be signed within 15 days, says the beverage firm's representative, Harold Hill, who heads up franchise sales for the chain.

It costs an average of $226,000 to open a 1,500-square-foot shop in the U.S., according to the company's Web site. Drive-through windows add an additional $8,000 to that cost.

Friday wild card

I was planning to peek at the blog before I hit the sack. And spent 20 minute skimming the comments section. Hilarious! I can see why that's so dang addictive. Partisans were toe to toe fighting out which side I love most. I felt like a proud papa watching his talented siblings go after one another. 'Tis extremely hard not to post or respond to comments. But it appears that Blogmeister Ken Paulman has things very well in hand. So, 'tis time to catch some Zzzzz's and prepare for my final -- I hope! -- day of painting. While I paint and sweat (do you think this is how Duane Hagadone paints his house?), you can use this Wild Card to start threads of your own. Also, remember, you can forward Ken links, questions, comments, photos, etc., for him to post here for you ...

Xenophobe: Warrior Princess

We need to teach this vein of sentiment as an antidote to the ubiquitous provincialism being deplored in these comments, but nobody seems to be advocating this point of view.

Shortly after WWII presidential candidate Wendell Willkie wrote "One World," and a movement arose. Whatever happened to it? A few declared people declared themselves 'citizens of the world.'

We have not moved forward since.

Although the plan is available through the school district's Web site, she explained that the idea was to bring people on board in stages by using the Internet cafes, the Moodle, focus groups, study circles and committees before taking the proposal to the board."The board is willing to come up with new ways of involving stakeholders," said Lori Dunker, who added that she has heard comments that the board did not mandate meetings with the staff. Because so much is asked of teachers already, she said, "we were extending professional courtesy to accommodate the staff."Board members emphasized that one of the board goals — to engage stakeholders — has been posted in area newspapers and presented to staff members. Meetings with staff were held in September, October and November with discussion held at board meetings in February, September, October and November."The JCI plan was put in front of the administrative team for a long time," explained Superintendent Bret Miles. The board also addressed a comment regarding the lack of involvement of many area businesses.

Qantas, the Australian national airline, has endured two high-profile IT failures in recent years and a third major project appears to be at substantial risk. In many respects, the company offers a case study for examining how underlying management issues can cause multiple IT projects to go bad.

Project eQ. In late 1995, Qantas canceled its project eQ technology services contract with IBM, four years into a ten-year agreement. The overall program cost was $200 million. According to The Australian Financial Review (1/31/06):

The project is understood to have run into trouble early last year after the human resources element was completed.

New to Market: Chair puts pooches at eye level with eating owners

Most dog aficionados know that it's hard to get through a meal without Fido sitting next to you, begging with those sad eyes.

Through San Antonio-based Good Poochie, you now can bring Fido to eye level with a doggie high chair.

Good Poochie owner Debbie Margozewitz said she was newly divorced and had just sent a daughter off to college, leaving two empty spots at the table, so she figured her cocker spaniel Elvis was a part of the family and might as well join her.

"He'd sit up at the table with me, but I just couldn't figure out a kosher way for him to be able to eat comfortably without him splattering food every which way," said Margozewitz, who also has a son. "Then it came to me — doggie high chair."

About the business: Margozewitz runs the business from her home.

Tax cut adds fuel to fire services’ budget crunch

My grandkids like to look at the fire trucks.. so when we get a chance we visit the stations and the kids ask questions.

As far as over staffed due to the amount of fires they have.. give me a break.. If that is all you think they do.. then I understand why your name is joker.. cause you didnt pay attention to get the right information.. Alot of the fire departments around here are now crossed trained as paramedics.. So they dont just sit around until a fire happens.. They also goto calls if some one is having a heart attack or injured.. Most of the fire departments in Lee County have paramedics on the fire trucks now.. I found out why too.. because the ambulance is not always in the area to respond.. but the fire department is staffed with the men and women with the same training..

Funeral For Volunteer Firefighter Draws Thousands

Shane Stewart of a small volunteer department near Greeley died in the line of duty last Saturday when his nearly new tanker-pumper rig rolled on the way to a call. Erik Karas, firefighters saluted him one last time. "Shane, you will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved you," Ault-Pierce Fire Chief Scott Wagner said. Karas prayed that the firefighters at the ceremony could "continue to save lives, ease pain and mend the torn fabric of lives entrusted to our protection."
